Zoom in Face

A camera installed above the monitor zooms in on the recognised face with the sound effect “Kaa!” with a sound effect, the device zooms in and forces the promise on the experiencer. The forcing mechanism is an attention-grabbing look by someone. At the same time, the zoom-in in cinematography is a message to the viewer to “pay attention”, thus forcing the attention of others present in the scene as well. The sudden manifestation of self and otherness unconditionally affirms the life of the experiencer.

Let’s work at the BABEL

Interactive installation created at the “Study of BABEL” exhibition hosted by Tokyo University of the Arts, which are related projects of the Brugel’s “Tower of Babel” exhibition. When the face is photographed with a dedicated iPads installed in the venue, the face is reflected in the image of people working inside the 3.4-meter tower. Through creating an activity to look for myself, I aimed for the “feeling” of the elaborate and magnificent charm of Bruegel’s “Tower of Babel”.
